1995: No More Borders – The Schengen Agreement started today, meaning people in Europe could finally travel between countries without stopping for passport checks.

1931: New Delhi Takes the Lead – New Delhi officially took over from Calcutta as the capital.
1942: A Political Wedding – Indira Gandhi married Feroze Gandhi on this day.
